Offence: Criminal Breach of Trust (CBT)
Offender: Sales Executive, applying for a Sales position at a multinational company
Finding: Candidate absconded from work, having ran away with over RM70,000+ worth of collections, from a previous IT company. The candidate is currently wanted by the police.
Details: July 2013, a salesman with a local IT Company applied for a Sales Manager position with a multinational company based in Kuala Lumpur. Little did he know that the multinational company conducted a thorough employment screening via 3rd party provider, Verity Intelligence, and discovered that the 32-year old was wanted by the police. He managed to convince his customers to deposit and pay in cash for the company’s goods. He never returned to work and was later discovered by his manager that many customers had already paid him for the said goods. After numerous attempts to contact him on his mobile and looking for him at his rented apartment, which he had already moved out of, the IT Company immediately lodged a police report. If not for the thorough employment screening conducted, the multinational company would have hired a wanted person, and worst of all potentially lose money and risk its reputation.
