The founder of Verity Intelligence, Mark Leow, was today invited by the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) to speak before an audience of banking professionals at Bank Negara on the importance of knowing your employees.
The invitation comes as no surprise as it reflects a growing understanding that jobs which require highly-qualified and trained professionals also carry high risks if these professionals are not properly vetted.
Mark briefly explained the process of pre- and post-employment screening and shared real life case studies on how a lack of vetting can, and has caused problems. These studies included an Chief Financial Officer who was sued for faking his employment history while another high profiled manager was later exposed as a party to a sexual harassment complaint. Mark also offered insights into the consequences of not screening employees, a practice that has left organisations riddled with fraud, corruption and monetary losses.
In recent months, Verity Intelligence has evolved to the point where we’re no longer mere background screeners. We believe we now play the role of educators who provide organisations with tools to prevent and detect fraud and corruption. We do this through speaking opportunities such as today’s Bank Negara event and by posting informational articles on our blog.
We’ve shared the basics of background screening in the past month on our blog, and will start diving deeper into topics like common fraudulent practices and case studies. We hope you’ll find our content useful and informative, and keep returning to our website www.verityintel.com to discover more.
