What should you expect when you employ the services of a background screening company?

You may think they primarily examine future employees and business transactions by verifying details about themselves that were revealed by them.

Well, you’re partly right. Apart from verifying what’s revealed by the said employees or business associates, a good background screening company should go beyond the surface to reveal the true background and track-record of individuals or organizations that are being verified.  

You’ll also discover that a background screening company does all this accurately, diligently and professionally.

When we perform a background screening, these are the areas we look at when vetting a candidate/organization:

• Criminality: This ensures your future or new hire doesn’t possess any criminal records, which in turn allows you to maintain a safe workplace or mitigate risk.

• Financial background checks: Is your hire’s credit status updated? Has he or she been declared bankrupt, or is a bankrupt? A background screening company verifies all these for you.

• Employment history, reference checks & checking associated companies: This allows you to authenticate the duration of employment, work accomplishments and reference verification.

• Cyber-vetting: Has your candidate posted inappropriate content or disparaging remarks about previous employers online? Had their face appear in the newspapers in connection with a robbery? All these facts can be verified.

• Education checks: A degree from Oxford may sound impressive, but it could be a bogus degree from Oxford Street. These types of checks allow you to discover whether a candidate’s educational background is legit. Background screening companies do this via direct contact with the relevant institutions.

• Global integrity: Your new hire may have overseas credentials, but does that also come with an overseas rap sheet? Find out if your hire has no criminal record outside of Malaysia and also checks if the institution is accredited.
