KUALA LUMPUR: Employers are advised to refer to the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) to check the certificates of job applicants to avoid being cheated by fake diploma and degree, which has become rampant lately.

Higher Education Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zaini Ujang such a method was meant to identify whether the higher learning institutions (IPT) involved were accredited under MQA in terms of quality and standards.

“They also need to check the name of a programme to find out whether it (the course) is offered at the IPT involved as stated on the diploma or degree of the candidates who were looking for job,” he told Bernama here today.

Zaini advised any recruitment agency or employer to lodge a police report if they were came across job applicants who submitted fake papers.
